Closing Instructions

According to the DOT [49 CFR 178.2 (c) (1) (ii)], closing instructions are required to be provided to whomever a packaging is transferred. Instructions below describe procedures for closing packagings prior to shipment. All packaging supplied with lids, gaskets, clamp bands, locking rings, bolt rings, bungs, caps or other fittings must be closed for shipment using only the components supplied.
✅ 1. Final Quality Inspection
-Ensure all parts of the tote (bottle, cage, valve, lid) are clean, dry, and free of any residue or damage.
-Confirm the valve is in proper working condition (open/close function smooth, no leaks).
-Check the cage for structural integrity. All welds and joints must be intact, and the cage must be securely fastened to the pallet.
-Inspect label areas to ensure all old labels, stickers, and hazardous markings have been completely removed.

✅2. Prior to closing:
1. Inspect each closure to ensure:
a) proper gasket is in place;
b) threads and sealing surfaces are dry;
c) both closure and gasket are in good condition.

✅3. Replace any defective gaskets, plugs or lids with new, defect free parts identical to the original packaging design.
